Reporting to the Principal, Charlotte Bilingual Preschool’s (CltBP) Preschool Teacher ensures that CltBP offers a high-quality, dual language preschool program that supports students’ school readiness in a supportive school culture with parents, teachers, and staff. Position responsibilities include:

  • Plan lessons weekly and deliver curriculum based on best practices in dual language education and with fidelity to ensure each child meets learning expectations that prepare them for success in school and life
  • Incorporate cultural, linguistic, and familial values and beliefs into classroom culture and lesson plans
  • Use data to drive instructional practices and differentiates instruction based on students’ needs, helping families understand the curriculum and ways they can support their child’s education at home
  • Observe, document, assesses, and report on individual student progress with a variety of pre- approved tools, including Teaching Strategies Gold and the DECA
  • Conducts home visits and family conferences, and encourages family participation
  • Establish and maintain ongoing open communication with families, therapists, and the Family Educators regarding child and family needs, and actively participate in Advisory process of referral and student support
  • Apply best practices and participate in professional development and life-long learning opportunities to remain a reflective practitioner
Required Qualifications & Competencies

The ideal candidate has the demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with children and operates with a high level of organization and ethics. Preschool Teachers at CltBP maintain a high bar of excellence and lead their students to increased success in school and life. The ideal candidate has the following capabilities and qualities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field and/or ECE credential
  • Native or proficient in English or Spanish with beginner to intermediate level of second language
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently within a team
  • Demonstrated computer skills, organizational skills, and commitment to follow through on tasks with a minimum of supervision
  • Previous experience working with children in a group setting
  • Values diversity, equity and cultural differences, bringing cultural competency to daily work
  • Life-long learner who seeks out professional development
