Advancement Coordinator

Who We Are

Mission

To prepare Spanish-speaking children for success in school and life by providing exceptional dual-language, multicultural early childhood education.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg is a community where differences in language and culture are celebrated as enriching, and all children have equitable access to opportunity and success.

Charlotte Bilingual Preschool (CltBP) is a pioneering organization in culturally responsive, dual-language early childhood education for Latinx children and families in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and beyond. Through our innovative programs, we advance our mission using a two-generation approach that:

  • Provides 3- and 4-year-old Spanish-speaking children with top-tier dual-language, multicultural preschool instruction through one of North Carolina’s few 5-star licensed, dual-language preschool programs.
  • Supports families in building literacy and kindergarten-readiness skills for their children from infancy through age five.
  • Empowers family members with resources to actively engage in their children’s early development.
  • Trains the next generation of certified dual-language early childhood educators.
  • Extends impact through a decentralized dual-language education delivery system, enabling partnerships with other sites to replicate our model.
  • Advocates locally and nationally for systemic change, equipping families and supporters to influence policymakers and dismantle barriers that have historically hindered progress for children and families.

Opportunity

Building on a bold strategic plan approved by the board of directors in early 2020, CltBP is positioned for transformative growth. Over the next decade, the plan aims to expand CltBP’s reach tenfold, increasing the number of children and families served annually. Key initiatives include:

  • Partnering with other preschools to broaden access to dual-language programs.
  • Transforming CltBP’s existing preschool into a full-day early learning center.
  • Developing a robust pipeline of dual-language early education professionals.
