The Accreditation Will Strengthen its Workforce Development Program For Bilingual Families

CHARLOTTE, NC, July 27 – Charlotte Bilingual Preschool, an organization that prepares Spanish-speaking children for success in school and life through superior dual-language, multicultural early childhood education and family programs, announces accreditation from ApprenticeshipNC for its family workforce development program. The accreditation program will provide additional support to Charlotte Bilingual Preschool, and offer state and national credentials to the school’s workforce development participants.

Beyond serving preschool children in its classrooms, Charlotte Bilingual Preschool is producing a pipeline of teachers, substitutes and teaching assistants through its innovative early childhood workforce development program. The program serves to increase access to quality early childhood education for Latinx children and provide pathways to employment for Latinx families. The school has a goal to serve 1,500 Latinx children in Mecklenburg County annually by 2030.

“We are so very proud of what we are accomplishing for bilingual children and families in Mecklenburg County,” said Charlotte Bilingual Preschool Executive Director Banu Valladares. “Our workforce development team works intimately with family members to advance their English skills, enroll in early childhood education courses, work in our classrooms and support the many steps that are oftentimes obstacles to someone interested in pursuing a career in early childhood education. The ApprenticeshipNC accreditation is another resource for our amazing families to pursue their goals and support our amazing students.”

CltBP partners with Central Piedmont Community College, UNC Charlotte and Charlotte Works to offer its preschool family members an opportunity to earn credits toward certifications and licenses to teach early childhood education. The program is not accepting new applicants at this time. The school will notify family members and the larger community when there are new program openings.
