Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Research & Evaluation Director drives a data-rich environment at Charlotte Bilingual Preschool that ensures our programs are designed to address demonstrable need and are evaluated against intentional benchmarks to produce maximum impact for our students and their families. Because the Research and Evaluation Director is aware of and involved in every aspect of our students’ and families’ experience, from drop off to pick up and oftentimes in between, he/she is uniquely positioned to probe trends and make connections the team can use to, in turn, improve our programs.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties

  • Supervises Research and Evaluation Assistants
  • Develops and refines a logic model/theory of change to inform data collection
  • Develops data collection tools and systems and administers research processes to answer questions related to program design, student and family tracking, program evaluation, and strategic planning
  • Summarizes student and family data and communicates findings/trends to the Preschool and Family Programs teams to inform programming
  • Communicates data trends across programs to increase alignment between programs
  • Develops brief reports and summaries to share data with community partners, funders, and potential funders
  • Collaborates with Grants Manager and Programs Teams to develop data tracking systems in order to comply with reporting requirements for grants
  • Monitors the fidelity and reliability of student assessments
  • Identifies metrics to evaluate programs and organization’s impact over time
  • Shares data and findings with Advancement team to support grant writing and reporting
  • Conducts research and identifies avenues to share CltBP’s successes and lessons learned with academic and non-academic audiences
  • Reviews literature regarding best practices related to early childhood education, dual-language instruction, and a multi-generational approach
  • Manages collaborative research efforts with community partners regarding research related to CltBP’s mission
  • Coordinates data collection at expansion sites and communicates findings with Expansion Manager and Principal to enhance fidelity of implementation (including instruction and family support) and promote continued quality improvement at expansion sites
  • Conducts CltBP’s yearly program evaluation

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree or higher in Education, Psychology, Sociology with a track record and/or concentration in applied research and evaluation.
  • Proficient in survey design using survey platforms such as Google Forms or Survey Monkey
  • Proficient in statistical analysis using R Studio, SPSS, SAS, or similar platforms
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Mastery level in MS Office suite
  • Strong skills in presenting and communicating data trends to diverse stakeholders (e.g., teachers, board members, funders, etc.)
